    How We Shoot

    Let kids be kids

The best family photos happen between the poses. As an NYC family photographer we keep sessions light and playful: a race across the Bow Bridge, ice cream in Central Park, funny faces on the subway grate. You get real smiles, not stiff lineups, and we quietly guide everyone so nobody has to think about what to do with their hands.

    1

    Morning magic

We start early when the light is soft and the landmarks are quiet. Kids are fresh, crowds are gone.

    2

    Play, not posing

Games, walks, and little missions instead of stand-here-and-smile. The camera keeps up.

    3

    Everyone in the frame

Parents, grandparents, the whole crew. We make sure no one stays behind the camera.

    Families about us

"Our five-year-old refused to smile for photos his whole life. Twenty minutes in Central Park and the photographer had him laughing so hard we could not stop him. These are the best family photos we have ever taken."

    The Harrison Family

    Toronto, Canada

"Three generations, seven people, one very early morning in DUMBO. Somehow everyone looks great in every photo, even grandpa who hates cameras. The gallery came the next evening."

    Priya & family

    London, UK

"We are locals and always thought photoshoots were for tourists. Now it is our yearly tradition for the holiday card. Quick, easy, and the kids actually ask when we are doing it again."

    Questions parents ask

What if our kids will not pose?

They do not have to. We photograph kids playing, running, and exploring, and we catch the real moments. Most parents are surprised how well it works. The trick is that it never feels like posing to them.

How long does a family session last?

Most families choose 1 to 2 hours. With small kids, one hour at one location is often the sweet spot: short enough to stay fun, long enough for a full gallery.

Can grandparents and bigger groups join?

Absolutely. Multi-generation shoots are some of our favorites. Tell us how many people are coming and we will plan the locations and group shots accordingly.

    What should we wear?

Coordinated, not matching: soft neutral tones with one or two accent colors photograph beautifully against the city. We send simple outfit tips after you book.

What if the weather turns bad?

We watch the forecast together and stay flexible: we can shift the time, swap to a sheltered route like Grand Central, or reschedule for free.

How much does a family photoshoot in NYC cost?

Sessions start at $250 for an hour at one location, with longer packages for more time and more places. Every package includes the edited gallery within 24 hours and full rights to the photos β€” no separate print or download fees.

Where is the best place for family photos in New York City?

Central Park is the usual answer and deserves it: the carousel, Bethesda Terrace, Bow Bridge and wide lawns are all within one walk. DUMBO suits families who want the bridge and cobblestones, and Top of the Rock gives you the skyline without a long walk. We suggest a route once we know your kids' ages.

What time of day is best for family photos with kids?

Mid-morning usually wins: the light is still soft, the parks are calm, and children are rested rather than hungry. Golden hour before sunset is beautiful but lands near dinner and bedtime β€” with toddlers it is often the harder choice.
